Mirror neurons are thought to be the key to human mimicry, allowing us to ape the actions of others and maybe even forming the basis for empathy. Zarinah Agnew is a neuroscientist at the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, whose research uses functional MRI to investigate how these systems work.
